Red and Silver put themselves inside an ice ball and roll it down the spiraling ammunition track of Zeta's cannon, while their allies work to sever the track by reaching and pulling a switch so that the ball flies off and crushes the cannon. Red gives up leadership to Silver, who establishes a plan to destroy the cannon. Meanwhile, the other team members disguise themselves as an eagle and grab a key card to get into the base, where they reunite with Red and Silver. Red, regretting not telling the birds to evacuate, admits his wish to be liked by everyone to Silver, who comforts him and frees them both. Zeta tells them her plan to fire ice balls filled with lava at both islands, and demonstrates her newly upgraded cannon. They intrude the base from the mouth of the weapon, only to be captured and frozen to inflatable water toys. Red insists on fighting alone but Silver decides to follow him instead. Once there, Mighty Eagle confesses that Zeta was once his fiancée but he abandoned her due to cowardice before he flies away. A meeting in Mighty Eagle's cave gets disrupted when an ice ball from Zeta's super-weapon hits Eagle Mountain, which alarms the other birds living on Bird Island.Īs the team travels to Eagle Island by submarine, Red assures the other birds that they do not need to evacuate. They recruit Chuck, Bomb, Silver and Bird Island's retired hero, Mighty Eagle. Leonard visits Red and convinces him to form an alliance. Red's two best friends, Chuck and Bomb, surprise Red and ask him to join them in a speed dating activity, where Red meets Chuck's twin sister Silver, an engineering student whose inventions are very boring and deems Red incompatible. Silver is initially disappointed that everyone thinks her inventions are boring, but finally gets an chance to change that when Red selects her on his team to lead the mission to destroy Zeta's superweapon partway through and successfully completes it. Silver is very intelligent and has won many awards, as well as is quite adventurous and loves her brother, Chuck. She is also very tall, with thin, yellow, scaly legs whose length is only rivaled by that of Stella. On both sides of her head, there are two large horsetails. It takes a long time to remember to aim the yellow birds after hours of killing time with the original game.
The yellow birds no longer fly in a relatively straight line when you trigger their rush attack, though they now shoot off in the same direction as where your finger touches the screen. The red birds still fly straight, the blue ones still split into three, and the black ones still blow up with a touch of the screen.
There are other differences, too, particularly in the skill set of some of the birds. Gravity (or the lack thereof) is a major constant that must be considered on every level, making Angry Birds Space a largely new experience and not just another holiday or movie-themed rebrand of the original. Sometimes you’ll have to ram into small asteroids in zero gravity space and hope inertia will guide it towards your enemies. Sometimes the fields of two bodies will overlap, your birds tracing double parabolas as they soar from one orbit into another. You’ll catapult your birds towards planets and moons with their own gravitational fields, the birds’ arcs bending and dwindling as gravity pulls them towards the surface.
